Microcement is known for its water resistance and easy cleaning. With the right maintenance routine, your microcement floors, walls, and countertops will look great and last for years. Read on to find out what to clean microcement with, what microcement cleaning agents are the most suitable, and how to reduce mechanical surface wear.
1. Wait for the microcement and varnish to cure
Your microcement application will be fully cured after 31 days, however the sealer will cure much faster so you won't have to wait that long to step into your little slice of heaven. After just 24 hours, light traffic is permitted, but only after 7 days of applying the varnish (layer closing the microcement system), the surface is completely hardened and resistant to water and mechanical factors. Before one week time is over, you must not place any heavy items on the floor nor soak the varnish.
2. Use furniture pads under furniture, and no shoes as a sign of respect for the art.
A microcement floor has similar resistance as a wooden floors or natural stone. Therefore, it is necessary to properly protect furniture legs. We always recommend placing felt pads to evenly load furniture. We also advise against using metal furniture casters. However, rubber ones will be safe. If you wear them, it is important to wipe your shoes well and not carry sand or stones that might scratch or mark the work.
3. Remove stains immediately!
If you accidentally fuck up and spill, idk, red wine onto a bleached oak parquet floor or a carpet, you immediately remove the stain, right? Do the same if you happen to spill intensely coloured liquids on the microcement. This applies primarily to kitchen floors and countertops that are exposed to oil, wine, coffee, vinegar or beetroot stains, but, some of us drink all around the house. Stains on microcement floor can be removed with a wet cloth, just like pours natural stone you must not let it sit or it will stain the surface, sometimes it can require to -re-apply a layer over the entire surface and re-seal.
Remember that acetone, vinegar, and any aggressive detergents can damage the varnish layer, so never use them!
4. Use agents suitable to clean microcement.
Like any other material, microcement gets dirty and dusty. Microcement surfaces need to be systematically dry vacuumed. For optimal protection, we recommend a to use a special agents for the care of concrete and microcement floors that do not exceed the recommended PH levels.
Use agents suitable to clean microcement, low PH levels, neutral, eco friendly cleaners.
